I’m in a bit of a quandary. I got some new jeans yesterday, Citizens, for a very reasonable price. I’m not snobby about my jeans, but I do love Citizens; they just fit. And jeans that fit are lovely.Â
One reason I love Citizens is that I am one of those obnoxious women with legs that are just the right length. I only need to get my pants hemmed if I try to save some cash by buying J Crew pants from the Tall Sale section.Â
So I have these jeans. They are the Kate cut, if anyone is curious (which is, incidentally, almost identical to my favorite jeans, in the Faye cut. I am nothing if not boring as hell when it comes to clothing myself. I am currently wearing a white tank top*. With my jeans. Maybe this afternoon I’ll go crazy and have some vanilla ice cream.).
Sadly, these jeans are about ¾ of an inch too long. And I don’t know what to do. Do I get them hemmed? I know of a fabulous tailor who can do it, but is it worth it for less than an inch? I do have a couple pairs of shoes (2 shoes, 1 boots, but if someone wants to buy me these in size 10, that would up the number! And they have been described as “bucaneer-like!) that they are the perfect length for. However, I also (bringin’ back the boring) have some flats that I like to wear from time to time. And I am notoriously bad about doing laundry, like, ever, so certain jeans for certain shoes is entirely too much of a limitation on my options.
I guess the real question is do I care if the cuffs get a little ripped up? Or do I want to pay a couple more bucks to get them hemmed? (ok, like TEN BUCKS in this freaking over-priced city! That is totally two glasses of wine plus tip at my favorite happy hour, the one where it would likely be parlayed into three glasses of wine because the bartender is an awesome tiny British lady who I have bonded with over animal rescue stories.)
Anyhow.
I don’t think I mind the ripped cuffs, because I am not a super classy gal (see: Inappropriate at Lobster Dinner). But maybe I should be more classy? Like, if I’m buying designer jeans, should I be mature enough to take care of them? I am at an utter loss here. While I go to the bathroom again to check out how great my ass looks in these, why don’t you give me your thoughts?
*I am, however, also rocking the three-inch dangling amber earrings. I also have white pizza with roasted red peppers for lunch. See how I live the crazy life?Â
UPDATED: We got the apartment!! I have an apartment and a new address!! I can walk to the grocery store and wash my clothes without leaving the house. It’s pretty much all I’ve ever wanted… well, except built in bookshelves, but the Boy said he would build me some
Yayayayayay!!!
CONGRATS on the apartment!!!
As for the jeans… If it were me, I would mean to get them hemmed but never get around to it… So I’m unhelpful.
Yes, great news about the apartment. And the news saved the post from being too girly.
