Hellooo, Monday. I want desperately to go back to bed and maybe we can chat again on Tuesday, k?
There is something wrong with the East Coast. I haven't seen this much rain in ages. I keep checking out the window to make sure there is no mass two by two exodus. (Boy didn't get this joke, so I may have to grab me a different mate if it comes to it, any takers?)
I was going to write a long post about all the things I have to be grouchy about, but that's not terribly productive. So I'll just whine about the rain a little more and go be grouchy by myself.
Seriously? Fairfax always has the worst rain. I am not counting on a particularly pleasant drive home from class today.
However, I'm also not going to be like the jackass on the local news last night who drove his car through over 3 feet of standing water, stalled it out badly, and then fussed all over the news that a tow truck still hadn't come for him. As a general rule, I think one should not drive in water over one's headlights. Fool.
Grumble.
OH! I did get to meet a "vendor of evil" over the weekend. That was cool and not grumbly at all! I was at a winery in rural Virginia (fairly close to where I grew up, actually) with the Boy and his co-workers for a behind-the-scenes industry tour. We met the lovely Italian wine maker, Luca, who was soft-spoken yet witty and absolutely full of knowledge. He's also a very pious man who was late to meet us for lunch as church had not let out. Of course, he was even later because he has been forced to attend a church a ways away in the nearest town. The local Baptist churches have asked him not to return because, as a wine maker, he is a "vendor of evil."
Yeah, come to think of it, that makes me pretty grumbly, too. Bastards.
There’s something weird going on everywhere.
We had a thunderstorm last night. With thunder. And lightning.
Which - in summer - not so weird.
UNLESS YOU LIVE IN LOS ANGELES
I thought our rain in May was weird - but this was really, really strange. When I woke up this morning, I had to ask my architect if I had dreamed the storm…because I didn’t quite believe it.
I hadn’t caught on that you are in the DC area. Do you go to GMU? It’s my alma matter.
